VB-VK COMMODORE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH KIT

The fitting of a hydraulic kit to a V8 or 6-cylinder Commodore is now made possible with this kit.   It is not a difficult job and only basic tools are required. 

Please note this isn't designed to work with a LS Etc 

 The bellhousing in both V8 and 6-cylinder models must be swapped for one from an HQ or HJ Holden which puts the pivot ball onto the driver’s side.  The thrust race and fork from those models must also be used.  The slave cylinder bracket is then bolted on to where the original GM mechanical clutch linkage bolted.   Be sure the bracket is sitting square onto housing, file or pack with washers to achieve this. 

 The master cylinder bracket is then bolted to the firewall using the two holes that are already there.  Using a hole saw the same size as the hole in the bracket, drill through.  The master cylinder plastic bottle must be cut down in size to fit under the body lip.  If a lathe is available, machine it through which will leave a small lip to make joining neater, join bottle back together using araldite.  Fit master cylinder, brass fitting and copper washer as in slave.  Fit line being sure it is well away from steering shaft and hot exhaust pipes.

 Remove clutch pedal and three 3/8th" holes must be drilled through. 

 NOTE:   This kit will not work with a stock factory V8 manual pedal assembly.  The correct unit is a 6-cylinder set up or by using the pedal box from an auto with the V8 pedals will also work but for best results use a 6-cylinder assembly.   Cut the push rod to the required length.  Adjust so that pedal is as far back as possible on adjuster and not binding during movement.  Check that piston is right back in bore of cylinder.   Bleed system.   I have found that if having trouble bleeding GM cylinders, it sometimes helps if most of the air is out, pull the 8clutch fork on by hand and have someone pump hard then release fork.   Fit return spring to fork.  If having trouble achieving enough throw on V8 models, GM have a special small-bore slave cylinder that they used in their Bathurst models which is 1/16th" smaller thus pushes further, but be ready for shock if   buying one as they are expensive
