We have found two types of engine chassis mounts, one that sits further
forward than the others, these seem to be in the following sequence 3 & 4Y series
(2 piece type) and 2L & 18R series (1 piece type.)
The Toyota rubbers are used in both cases. In models where the mounts are
further back the supplied plate is bolted to the chassis mount facing towards
the front of vehicle, the rubbers are then bolted onto the extension plate.
If your model has the slave cylinder on the left hand side, you will need to get
a cylinder from any Toyota with a right hand mounted cylinder with the
smallest possible bore. The bore size of 5/8th” is ideal and most brake suppliers
could sleeve a cylinder to this size.
A Commodore sump and oil pickup fits OK. If your Hilux has power steering or
air conditioning be sure to get a motor with all these items attached as it’s just
a matter of new hydraulic lines, but if you have to try and adapt the Hilux pumps it
is getting to be a major job.
CRS can supply a special thermostat neck that allows standard radiator hoses to fit.
Use Commodore accelerator cable with the supplied bracket which will fit both ends
for easy hook up. The top hand brake cable bracket will foul motor but can be swung
out of the way or bolted back on the inside of the vehicle. |
