CHASSIS, SUSPENSION & BRAKES

Another major part of the CRS operation is our chassis, suspension and brake conversion section. Every enthusiast is interested in improving the handling, appearance and stopping power of their vehicle, so lets look at each section in turn.

Chassis work of all types are carried out, from the simple lengthening of rails to the installation of front and rear ends for Street Rod construction, boxing, rust replacement or grafting of any type can all be carried out by qualified tradesmen. Pre-fab support chassis for many models are available to allow the installation of larger motors or if you just wish to strengthen your stocker. Chassis for Ford Capri, LH-LX and UC Torana along with LC and LJ are all in stock, FX - FJ utes and sedans, FE to EK with either auto or manual bodies can be supplied, but be sure you know the transmission you intend to use when ordering. Raised floor sections are available for FX through to EK for people using factory manual bodies, which had the small floor hump. EJ and EH auto and manual bodies also require different kits but HD and HR don't differ in styles. Full fitting instructions are issued along with bolt kits to suit. Production chassis are fixed prices, but specials are made on an hourly rate and to the customer’s requirements.

We also have Holden Front Suspension Crossmembers available for early Holdens. Based on the HD-HR balljoint unit these are supplied bare ready to accept your accessories. V8 units are designed with engine mounts and rack and pinion steering brackets fitted, with sump clearance cut into them to allow trouble free engine and transmission fitting. They are internally strengthened to engineering standards, cleaned and painted ready for fitment. See below for the full list.

Pictured here is the LC-LJ Torana bolt in reinforcement kit to enable high powered 6 or V8 engines to be safely and legally fitted.

Ford, GM and Mopar enthusiasts are all catered for with our range of drop axles, designed to lower the overall height without the previous operation of cutting the springs and immediately ruining the ride of the vehicle. These axles allow the owner to enjoy the ride and handling, Valiant, Ford Falcon, Fairlane, Customline and Tank models, Chevs from 1955-57 through to 1968, Bedford and any model Holden or Torana as long as it has a balljoint suspension. We also have a conversion available that will lift Holdens a total of 38mm or 1 1/2" without spring change. We are constantly adding new drop stub axles including our latest for the Late Holden (Isuzu) Rodeo. See a full list below!

Shown here are our Holden lo-ride stubs designed to bolt straight in and accept the steering and brakes from the original, these axles are manufactured to standards far exceeding the original units and are accepted by all State Authorities.

With over 100 disc brake conversions on file, CRS can carry out swaps for your special needs, U.S. cars are especially catered for, so if you have a Desoto, Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler, Buick, Oldsmobile. Chev, Ford, Mercury or Cadillac, it is probably one we have done. All modifications are carried out to the highest standard.  All other work, such as disc and axle restudding or one-off adaptions, is carried out on an hourly rate.
